The Barrsaint Kennel exists since 1991. We produced our first litter in Feburary 1993. The main objective of our breeding is to produce quality dogs who are good family companions. We love this race and that's why we do not mass-produce our dogs. Our females have only one litter per year to maintain a better quality of puppies and to obtain a better physical condition.
Within a litter, we usually select one male and one female for reproduction purposes. This allows us to upgrade the quality of the race and maintain good standards. Our dogs are family raised. We live in the country, beside a lake, on a property of 150x300 feet to enable the dogs to have a good quality of life. We only breed one race, therefore we have a maximum amount of time to take care of them.
Description of the Leonberger.
The Leonberger is a dog very attached to the family and adores children. It has a very docile temper, but can be a formidable guarddog in the face of danger. He barks rarely, only to inform of a stranger in his territory. He loves water but most importantly, he does not drool. He is large, but in a house, he knows how to make himself discreet and realizes his important stature. He requires a minimum of exercise, but is very adaptable and rapidly conforms to a quiet or active lifestyle.
